The SMILE method is innovative and most gentle laser eye treatment available now.It provides ultra precise minimal invasive laser correction surgery which is flapless, bleed less technique. It reshapes the corneal tissue with femtosecond laser leaving the corneal surface intact and corrects the refractive error by removing lenticule through small incision.SMILE thus maintains high biochemical corneal stability, higher safety and faster recovery. Due to small incision and cut the incidence of dry eye is also very minimal. The freedom to live without glasses/contact lens can now come true for any age and for any degree of visual impairment.SMILE method is latest innovation in refractive laser procedure. The procedure is walk in walkout. For further information and questions please contact the doctor or email marketing@zulekhahospitals.com
In femtolasik technique, a femtosecond laser is used to create a hinged corneal flap that is lifted to correct the visual impairment. The femtolasik method is precise and spare corneal tissues. The precision of laser enables pin point vaporization of tissues resulting in precise modification of reflectivity and correction of vision. The margins of cut are regular and well defined. The special feature of technique is that flap is created by laser and blade or other cutting tools are not involved thus labeled as bladeless technique. Thus it reduces the complications of mechanical instruments or blade. For further information and questions please contact the doctor or email marketing@zulekhahospitals.com
Lasik was first technique which is widely used for correction of refractive error. In this technique corneal flap is made with mechanical instrument (microkeratome) and blade hence called as blade LASIK / conventional LASIK.Since the technique uses blade / mechanical cutting tool has its own complication. With the invention of femtolasik this method is widely used.
PRK is the type of refractive surgery to correct myopia (near sightedness), hyperopic (farsightedness) and astigmatism. PRK is first type of laser eye surgery for vision correction and thus predecessor to popular LASIK procedure. The only difference in PRK and Lasik is that in PRK cornea’s entire epithelial (outer) layer is removed to expose the area and no flap is created.
The Excimer laser then sculpts the stromal layer of cornea to correct refractive error whereas in Lasik surgery a thin, hinged flap is created on cornea to assess the treatment.
Refractive lens exchange is also called as lens replacement surgery or clear lens extraction and may be a better option than LASIK, PRK or phakic IOL refractive surgery for people with presbyopia or high hyperopia (far sightedness).RLE replaces your eyes clear natural lens with artificial intraocular lens to correct refractive error and achieve sharper focus, reducing your need for reading or bifocal glasses.
Visian ICL are next generation implants for refractive surgery. It can give you the freedom to live a life uninhibited by the day to day life style demands of glasses and contacts.
Phakic IOL (intraocular lenses) approved by FDA for vision correction and is referred as implantable contact lenses (ICLs).they are removed if necessary, contains ultraviolet blocker.
Visian ICL is placed in posterior chamber making invisible to naked eye. Implantation of the ICL is short procedure done under topical aneasthesia.
The collamer base of the lens material is 100@ biocompatible meaning it is design to function in harmony with your body chemistry. The advantage of the ICL is that it can permanently correct your vision yet no natural tissue is removed or reshaped in any way during the procedure.
Multifocal implants are a lens that has different power in the center of the lens and another power in the periphery of the lens so that vision can be focused for far and near with same eye. Multifocal lens help to correct near sightedness, farsightedness and presbyopia. The widely used FDA approved multifocal implants are Restore multifocal lens from Alcon. Patients who have multifocal lens implants, limbal relaxing incision may help to reduce astigmatism.
