Your Questions

Why should we care for our nervous system?

The nervous system is a major and complex system in the human body. It is the controls all parts of the body through nerves.

Neurological problems manifests as aberrations in activities of daily living like inability to do the day to day chores of life like speaking, walking, seeing or drinking. Some of the neurological problems force a person to leave his work. A number of these can be treated if consulted early.

Zulekha Multi speciality Hospital has state of the art equipment to perform the most complicated neurological investigations such as 3 Tesla MRI, electroencephalogram (EEG), nerve conduction study, Evoked potentials and intensive care facilities.

What is a neurological examination?

During a neurological examination, the neurologist reviews the patient's health history with special attention to the current condition. The patient then takes a neurological exam. Typically, the exam tests vision, strength, coordination, reflexes and sensation. This information helps the neurologist determines the site of lesion in the nervous system. Further tests may be needed to confirm a diagnosis or to find a specific treatment.

What is mild brain injury?

People with mild or subtle brain injuries have cognitive, psychological and physical symptoms that occur after the injury. They usually do not experience a prolonged period of unconsciousness or coma. In fact, some individuals report no loss of consciousness.

The effects of a mild brain injury can range from psychological problems such as depression and anxiety to substance abuse and/or addiction.

When do the symptoms of mild brain injury emerge?

There are actually two sets of symptoms: one that is observed right after the injury and a second set that occurs some time after the initial phase. The first set of symptoms includes:

  • Headaches
  • Nausea
  • Dizziness
  • Confusion
  • Agitation
  • Disorientation
  • Amnesia
  • Fatigue

How to protect your brain after a certain injury?

Overall physical health is closely linked to brain health, making a healthy body key to a healthy brain.
